Dogs love socializing with other dogs. But allowing dogs to socialize can be a risky affair ending up as a dog fight.
– Prevention of aggressive behavior is most important. Teach obedience to the dog to have confidence irrespective of what is going on around him.
– Keep an eye on your dog for signs of aggression or imminent fight. It will also help to understand your dog’s weaknesses and triggers.
– Do not panic if dogs fight. Try to distract or separate the dogs to prevent injuries to the dogs or the people near them.
Once the fight is over you still need to be very careful around the dogs. They will be agitated and possibly scared and in pain, all of which increases the risk that they will bite. If your dog has obvious wounds, take him to the veterinarian immediately.
