Why it works
VOHC Accepted for plaque control in dogs. An independent credential from the Veterinary Oral Health Council, not a marketing adjective.
Calprox® formulation. Petsmile's own calcium peroxide-based formula, developed by the makers of Supersmile.
Rotisserie Chicken flavour. A savoury taste designed for pets, so the paste becomes the treat that makes the routine happen.
Brush or apply. The manufacturer permits direct application to the teeth for pets that are new to brushing; brushing adds the cleaning action once they accept it.
No rinsing, no waiting. Safe to swallow in normal use; your pet can eat and drink straight afterwards.
Suitable for dogs and cats according to the manufacturer. The VOHC credential is listed for dogs.
How to use
Let your pet sniff and lick a small amount of paste from your finger so the taste comes first.
Over a few days, rub a little paste onto the outer surfaces of the front teeth with your fingertip while gently lifting the lip.
Put a pea-sized amount on a soft pet toothbrush and let your pet lick it from the bristles.
Brush the outer surfaces of the teeth at a 45-degree angle to the gum line, a few teeth at a time. Do not force the mouth open.
Aim for once a day, or at least several times a week. Consistency matters more than a perfect session.
Use the manufacturer's directions on the tube if they differ from the above.
Formulations can change. Always check the ingredient declaration printed on the tube you receive, particularly if your pet has a known sensitivity.

Safety and when to see your vet
For animal use only. Use as directed by the manufacturer. Do not use human toothpaste on pets.
Discontinue use and speak to your vet if your pet shows any reaction. Do not use on pets known to react to any listed ingredient.

If your pet has bad breath that does not improve, bleeding or swollen gums, loose or broken teeth, visible heavy tartar, pain, or is reluctant to eat or be touched around the mouth, book a check-up with your vet.
Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place with the lid closed.
FAQs
Is Petsmile VOHC Accepted?
Yes. Petsmile Professional Pet Toothpaste appears on the Veterinary Oral Health Council's list of accepted products for plaque control in dogs (seal awarded 2011). The credential applies to dogs; the manufacturer markets the toothpaste for dogs and cats.
Do I have to brush, or can I just apply it?
The manufacturer allows direct application to the teeth with a finger. We recommend introducing a brush once your pet accepts the taste, because brushing adds the mechanical cleaning that toothpaste alone cannot.
How much do I use and how often?
A pea-sized amount once or twice a day on the outer surfaces of the teeth. Follow the directions printed on the tube.
Can my pet eat and drink afterwards?
Yes. The manufacturer's directions do not require a waiting period before food or water.
How long does a tube last?
It depends on the size of your pet and how often you brush. Most single-dog households find a 4.2 oz tube lasts one to two months of daily use.
What if my pet refuses the flavour?
Email info@petdentist.co.uk within 30 days of delivery with your order number and we will refund the toothpaste, even if the tube is opened. One tube per household; see our refund policy.

My cat loves the toothpaste more than he likes the toothbrush, however since the chicken flavor isn’t that strong my other cat (who usually eats anything) doesn’t like it, so I suggest putting more flavoring into the toothpaste or mixing it with a treat. Also the customer service is great 😊

This is truly the best pet toothpaste. The only one recognised by the VOC.
I was surprised to receive a bill for the tax on this product when I was ordering within Europe. Maybe I missed something in the small print so the product ended up being VERY expensive.
A tentative 4 stars as we have only been using the toothpaste for possibly 10 to 12 days. It could make a 5.
However, I saw my vet at the start of the week, and she checked my old dog's dreadful teeth, and she remarked that the tartar was soft. I have noticed that the tips of his canines are beginning to show some white.
Both of my dogs' breath has improved, and they both like the toothpaste, so I am HOPEFUL. My old chap can't be put out for the vets to clean them due to heart disease.
My chihuahua likes this & will accept it by licking it off my little finger. After a week of regular use I can see a difference in her teeth already. They are whiter & her breath is now fresh. I shall continue to give her the Petsmile toothpaste as delighted with the results so far.
This toothpaste is amazing. I wish I had taken a "before" picture of both my dogs teeth. I've been using the toothpaste for a few weeks daily and can see a massive difference. It's a whole lot cheaper than expensive vet dental treatment. Highly recommend
Seems to brighten my dogs teeth, he isnt really keen on the taste and I am not sure if its due to some of the ingredients. As he has a gastric reflux problem, I hope its ok for his tummy.
My dog loves the flavour of the toothpaste! indeed she asks for more but she has to wait for the next evening when, after dinner, she gets her desire. I feed every p.m.
